Yes, we are licensed as a personal care services agency under the Indiana State Department of Health. We are also Medicaid Certified
What are Transportation services?
Transportation services help participants access nonmedical community services, activities, and resources specified in their Person-Centered Service Plan (PCA). These services complement, but do not replace, Medicaid-covered medical transportation.
What types of Transportation services do we offer?
Non-Assisted Transportation: For participants who don’t need help transferring in and out of vehicles.
Assisted Transportation: For participants who need mechanical assistance, such as a wheelchair lift.
Can Transportation services be used for medical appointments?
No, these services are for nonmedical purposes. Medical transportation is covered under Medicaid, and Transportation services under the waiver focus on helping participants access community services and activities.
Are unpaid transportation options encouraged?
Yes, when available, participants are encouraged to use unpaid options such as family, friends, or community agencies before using waiver-based Transportation services.
What activities are not covered by Transportation services?
Transportation services cannot duplicate Medicaid State Plan benefits or waiver services such as: Adult Family Care and Assisted Living. Additionally, a prior authorization denial from Medicaid is required before the waiver can cover Transportation services.
What is Adult Family Care (AFC)
Adult Family Care provides 24-hour care and supervision in a family-like setting. The caregiver provides daily assistance with personal care, meal preparation, medication management, and supervision in a home-based environment for adults who cannot live independently.
Who qualifies for Adult Family Care?
Individuals who need ongoing support with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility, and who prefer a home-based care environment, are eligible for Adult Family Care.
Is Adult Family Care offered in a licensed facility?
No, Adult Family Care is provided in the caregiver’s home. Caregivers are screened and approved to offer care in a family-like environment to ensure safety and quality of life.
What services are not covered under Adult Family Care?
Adult Family Care does not cover services such as:
Nursing home-level care: If a participant requires extensive medical treatment, they may need a skilled nursing facility.
Transportation services: Participants in Adult Family Care are not eligible for Transportation services under the waiver.
What are Attendant Care services?
Attendant Care services offer personal assistance for daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, and light housekeeping. These services help participants maintain independence while living in their own homes.
Who can provide Attendant Care services?
Attendant Care providers can be trained professionals, family members, or friends. They assist with daily activities based on the participant’s Person-Centered Service Plan (PCA).
How are Attendant Care services different from Adult Family Care?
Attendant Care services are provided in the participant’s home and focus on helping them with daily tasks while maintaining their independence. Adult Family Care, on the other hand, provides 24-hour care in the caregiver’s home.
Are there any limitations on Attendant Care services?
Yes, Attendant Care services cannot duplicate other waiver services, such as Adult Family Care or Transportation services. The services must be clearly defined in the participant’s service plan, and providers must adhere to state regulations.
Can Attendant Care services include medical care?
No, Attendant Care focuses on nonmedical support, such as personal care and household tasks. Medical care must be provided by licensed professionals and is typically covered under other Medicaid services.
